Termex insulation does not catch fire easily and does not propagate fire. This makes termex ideal for use in structures made from wood or similar building materials in compliance with regulations and type approval.
The capacity of Termex insulation materials to protect structures during a fire is based on the boric minerals used as fire retardants. The properties of these minerals, together with the low air permeability of the insulation material, retard effectively the propagation of hot gases and flame which spread the fire.
In a fire, the smoldering speed of the insulation material is the same as that of massive wooden structures, i.e., 1-2mm/min.
Termex is in accordance to BS:5803. Inhibition to flaming and smoldering is achieved by the introduction of boric minerals to the fibres. The use of termex insulation does not prejudice the fire resistance properties of the wall. Termex is installed by trained operatives to conform with British Standards.
